THE PLAN
Current demographics and economics in Canada show a strong desire for family based equine recreational activities. This demand is growing and seems to go hand in hand with the ongoing development of smaller rural properties surrounding urban areas. The Acreage-Lifestyle allows families to maintain one or two horses on their parcel of land. These owners are keen to own horses with qualities that meet the needs of all family members, such as safe and reliable temperaments, versatile, and tractable horses. Australian Stock Horses fit this need well as they have been bred for centuries as a breed that possesses hardiness, good work ethic and temperament. These horses are required to work on the family cattle ranch then continue into the weekend playing demanding sports like camp drafting, polo and polocrosse. These same mounts were able to provide younger family memebers the opportunity to play lower level games and compete in pony club events. The McArthur's breeding program will be directed towards 'Heritage pedigree' Australian Stock Horses, which possess the desired attributes of a versatile, reliable, and safe horse for both the competitor and the recreational horseman in the family.
With the careful selection of pedigrees for the start of the Australian stock horses in Canada. McArthur Farms Australian Stock Horses will be continuously improving the Canadian gene pool for all registered ASH horses. Acheived through the importation of breeding stock and semen from both Australia and the USA diversifying the pool of equine genetics and increasing the inventory of young horses suitable for competitive success in all performance sectors of Canadian and North American markets.
